Video Conferencing Tips from Wake Forest University

Thorough planning and collaboration help video conferencing initiatives take off.

posted February 8, 2012

Want to try out video web conferencing on your campus? Here are some lessons learned from the Wake Forest University deployment:

  • Include deans, provosts, administrators and student leaders throughout the planning and implementation stages.
  • Ask students to train faculty members to foster collaboration from the get-go.
  • Run a pilot. This will let you demonstrate the possibilities available through your new web conferencing tools.
  • Find ways to create excitement. We’ve run “WebEx jams” during which students and faculty look for creative ways to use the technology. We even passed out “Wake’s on WebEx” buttons to spread the word.
